RESEARCH ON EFFECTIVE BIRD DETECTION AND PROTECTION SYSTEMS IN WIND FARMS
Description: Research project focused on the protection of avifauna in wind farms through the use of computer vision and artificial intelligence, with the aim of improving the compatibility between wind energy generation and biodiversity conservation.
Objectives: To research and develop an effective system for the detection, identification, and tracking of avifauna in wind farms, capable of activating deterrence strategies or emergency shutdowns in order to reduce bird mortality caused by collisions with wind turbines.
Results: Acquisition of the technological knowledge and technical foundations necessary for the development of an advanced avifauna protection solution for wind farms, overcoming the limitations of currently available alternatives and enabling its future industrial implementation.
