SOLUTE attends to this year´s "Jornadas Operativas" edition, held in Madrid: Wind energy rise alongside wildlife preservation.

Last year alone, more than 1,100 MW of new capacity were installed, a 94% increase compared to the previous year, demonstrating the solidity and growth potential of this technology in the country.
Throughout 2025, this trend has accelerated even further, accompanied by a significant rise in discussions around how to ensure sustainable industry development. The expansion of wind power not only means more generation capacity, but also the need to integrate solutions that guarantee proper coexistence with the natural environment, especially regarding biodiversity protection.

In this context, the conversation on balancing renewable energy, wind farm operations, and bird conservation has become central in sectoral forums.

AEE’s operational wind farm conference: a key meeting point

Within these discussions, the Jornadas Operativas de Parques Eólicos organized by the Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE) have become an essential event for industry professionals. Held last October, the conference brought together nearly 200 attendees and featured seven thematic sessions focused on the main challenges affecting the efficient operation of wind farms.

The sessions covered topics such as advanced maintenance, digitalization, safety, operational optimization, and the interaction between turbines and the environment. This last topic, increasingly relevant given today’s regulatory and social context, played a leading role in the session titled:

“Influence of the Environment and Avifauna on Wind Farm Operation.”

This session highlighted the need to integrate new technologies and operational strategies that enable renewable generation to coexist with the conservation of the most sensitive species.

SOLUTE´s contribution to the debate: latest technologies applied to the wind energy sector

SOLUTE played an active role in this session through its Head of Data Science & AI, Miguel Ángel López, who shared insights on technological solutions designed to mitigate risks associated with bird–turbine interactions. During the session, AVISDET was presented; an advanced bird detection tool based on artificial intelligence, 3D vision, and edge computing.

AVISDET is designed to identify birds in real time in wind environments, enabling the activation of mitigation protocols such as deterrent measures or automated turbine shutdowns in risk situations. Its approach combines technological robustness, accuracy, and smooth integration into wind farm operations, providing significant value both environmentally and operationally.

The intervention emphasized how advanced monitoring technologies, together with appropriate operational strategies, can become essential allies to ensure coexistence between wind energy activity and biodiversity protection.

Event closeup and conclusions

SOLUTE and TSR’s participation in these sessions reaffirms their commitment to a sustainable energy model, where technological innovation plays a key role in achieving balanced coexistence between renewable generation and biodiversity.

Through solutions like AVISDET, we will continue working to strengthen the environmental integrity of wind farms, driving an energy transition that is not only efficient, but also respectful of the natural environment.

For those of you who want to delve in the insights that SOLUTE shared during the event, here you can watch this summary, drived by Miguel Ángel for giving the context of the main topic: birdlife preservation in wind environments through stereoscopic vision.
