Aprovechando el D\u00eda Internacional del Peat\u00f3n, hablamos de la importancia de este campo en el sector automovil\u00edstico, y c\u00f3mo la ingenier\u00eda puede contribuir significativamente a salvar vidas<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La semana pasada, el 17 de agosto, tuvo lugar el D\u00eda Mundial del Peat\u00f3n, que conmemora el primer accidente de tr\u00e1fico mortal en 1897, cuando Bridget Driscoll falleci\u00f3 tras ser atropellada en Londres.<\/p>

Establecida por la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS), el objetivo de esta efem\u00e9ride es concienciar sobre la seguridad de los peatones y la importancia de respetar las normas de seguridad vial. Aprovechando esta fecha, cada a\u00f1o se promueven nuevas medidas y pol\u00edticas para garantizar la existencia de espacios peatonales seguros, cuidados y regulados.<\/p>

Aunque se han hecho grandes avances en este sentido, las cifras son a\u00fan muy preocupantes. Y es que, seg\u00fan datos de la OMS, hay todav\u00eda aproximadamente 1,19 millones de muertes cada a\u00f1o como resultado de accidentes de tr\u00e1fico, de los cuales m\u00e1s de la mitad son usuarios vulnerables, y hasta el 23% son peatones. Por tanto, todav\u00eda queda mucho trabajo por hacer como sociedad para mejorar la seguridad en las carreteras y los espacios p\u00fablicos.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La protecci\u00f3n de peatones es una disciplina del sector automotriz, que engloba el conjunto de tecnolog\u00edas, normativas y soluciones de ingenier\u00eda dise\u00f1adas para reducir la probabilidad y gravedad de las lesiones en caso de atropello, a trav\u00e9s de modificaciones y soluciones concretas aplicadas al dise\u00f1o de los veh\u00edculos. No se trata solo de una obligaci\u00f3n regulatoria, sino de un compromiso de la industria con la seguridad vial y la movilidad sostenible.<\/p>

En este \u00e1mbito, la ingenier\u00eda desempe\u00f1a un papel clave al transformar la investigaci\u00f3n y la normativa en avances tangibles que se traducen en veh\u00edculos m\u00e1s seguros.<\/p>

Una de sus principales aportaciones consiste en garantizar el cumplimiento normativo y de los ensayos de homologaci\u00f3n. Reglamentos internacionales como la normativa europea UNECE R127 o los protocolos de Euro NCAP establecen pruebas espec\u00edficas para evaluar la seguridad de los peatones en caso de impacto, y gracias a la ingenier\u00eda es posible adaptar la geometr\u00eda y los materiales de los veh\u00edculos para superar estos ensayos y alcanzar las m\u00e1ximas calificaciones en seguridad.<\/p>

Otro campo fundamental de actuaci\u00f3n es el dise\u00f1o de sistemas pasivos de protecci\u00f3n. Aqu\u00ed, la ingenier\u00eda interviene en el desarrollo de componentes que absorben la energ\u00eda del impacto y reducen su severidad, como parachoques deformables, o cap\u00f3s con zonas de absorci\u00f3n o sistemas de elevaci\u00f3n activa. El objetivo de estas soluciones es claro: disminuir las lesiones en zonas especialmente vulnerables del cuerpo humano como la cabeza, la cadera o las piernas.<\/p>

A ello se suman las innovaciones en sistemas activos y la simulaci\u00f3n avanzada, que han revolucionado la forma en que los fabricantes abordan la protecci\u00f3n de peatones. Las tecnolog\u00edas de asistencia a la conducci\u00f3n, como la detecci\u00f3n de peatones y la frenada autom\u00e1tica de emergencia, permiten evitar atropellos antes de que se produzcan. Al mismo tiempo, la simulaci\u00f3n por ordenador y la modelizaci\u00f3n biomec\u00e1nica posibilitan evaluar miles de escenarios virtuales a bajo coste y optimizar el dise\u00f1o antes de realizar ensayos f\u00edsicos, acelerando el desarrollo y reduciendo los costes de validaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La automoci\u00f3n es una de las industrias en las que disponemos de m\u00e1s recorrido<\/a>, especializ\u00e1ndonos en CAD y simulaci\u00f3n desde 2013, y trabajando con fabricantes de talla internacional como el grupo Volkswagen o Motherson. Una de las disciplinas en las que m\u00e1s proyectos hemos desarrollado es, precisamente, protecci\u00f3n de peatones, donde disponemos de un \u00e1rea especializada desde hace m\u00e1s de 10 a\u00f1os.<\/p>

Mediante la simulaci\u00f3n de varios tests que representan las partes del cuerpo que podr\u00edan resultar irreversiblemente da\u00f1adas durante un impacto a 40 km\/, realizamos estudios para optimizar el dise\u00f1o de diferentes secciones de la estructura del autom\u00f3vil.<\/p>

Concretamente, se realizan tres tipos de an\u00e1lisis sobre tres diferentes secciones del cuerpo de un peat\u00f3n: cabeza, cadera y pierna, en cada uno de los que se estudian diferentes casos de aceleraciones, fuerzas, momentos y deformaciones en los impactores.<\/p>

Las partes estructurales del veh\u00edculo sobre las que se simulan dichas cargas son aquellas que componen la zona frontal del mismo, ya que son aquellos que presumiblemente impactar\u00e1n con el peat\u00f3n en caso de accidente. Los componentes analizados m\u00e1s comunes son: cap\u00f3, parabrisas, parachoques, tablero, faros, CMS\u2026<\/p>

Como resultado, es posible transmitirle al fabricante un diagn\u00f3stico sobre el comportamiento estructural del veh\u00edculo en estos casos simulados para, como consecuencia, optimizar su dise\u00f1o con el fin de reducir significativamente el riesgo de lesiones graves, incapacitantes, o incluso mortales para el peat\u00f3n, en caso de un impacto.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
