Lo que comenz\u00f3 como un aviso por un peque\u00f1o fuego en la sierra de Santa M\u00f3nica, a 60 km de las famosas colinas de Hollywood, termin\u00f3 por hacer historia como una cadena de incendios al nivel de los m\u00e1s catastr\u00f3ficos de la historia de California.<\/p>

A continuaci\u00f3n, se analizar\u00e1n diversas componentes meteorol\u00f3gicas (par\u00e1metros) que ayuden a comprender c\u00f3mo ha influido la meteorolog\u00eda en el origen y la propagaci\u00f3n imparable de las llamas hacia la ciudad, adem\u00e1s de sus consecuencias.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

El estado de California ha sufrido una sequ\u00eda generalizada durante la \u00faltima d\u00e9cada, a excepci\u00f3n de unos a\u00f1os 2022 y 2023 an\u00f3malamente h\u00famedos, cuando la vegetaci\u00f3n de la regi\u00f3n sufri\u00f3 un considerable aumento. De nuevo, no se han registrado lluvias en la ciudad de Los \u00c1ngeles desde el pasado mes de octubre, secando toda esta vegetaci\u00f3n y generado as\u00ed una importante cantidad de combustible para posibles incendios forestales.<\/p>

Esto se\u00f1ala al cambio clim\u00e1tico, causante de esta alternancia brusca entre periodos secos y h\u00famedos, como un agente potenciador de sucesos de esta \u00edndole, aumentando su potencial destructivo como su distribuci\u00f3n temporal ya que no se hab\u00edan registrado antes incendios significativos en la regi\u00f3n en el mes de enero, sino que es el verano la estaci\u00f3n donde dan comienzo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

En el sur de California y el \u00e1rea metropolitana de Los \u00c1ngeles son bien conocidos los vientos de Santa Ana. De componente noreste y por tanto de origen continental, los vientos catab\u00e1ticos descienden las monta\u00f1as aceler\u00e1ndose, calent\u00e1ndose y por lo tanto perdiendo humedad (por efecto Foehn).<\/p>

Al inicio de las primeras llamas, los vientos de Santa Ana se aceleraron desde 90 hasta rachas de 160 km\/h que propagaron el fuego con gran rapidez.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La ciudad de Los \u00c1ngeles es una de las que m\u00e1s sufre problemas en cuanto a la calidad de su aire. Su geograf\u00eda, con un terreno llano entre la costa y una cadena monta\u00f1osa genera recirculaci\u00f3n del aire, es decir, \u00e9ste no se renueva y se mantiene sobre la ciudad. Por lo tanto, la acumulaci\u00f3n del humo y las part\u00edculas en suspensi\u00f3n en el aire generados por los incendios contribuyen a un descenso de la calidad del aire, ya de por si bajo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
